Meet Alex Cortez

Born in McAllen, Texas and raised in Mexico, Alex Cortez carries a dual identity that shapes everything he brings to the track. While his birthplace may be in the United States, his heart, upbringing, and pride are firmly rooted in Mexico — a part of his story he represents with conviction every time he races. For Alex, motorsport isn’t just competition; it’s an extension of who he is and where he comes from.

His introduction to racing began at home, sharing moments with his father while watching Drive to Survive. What started as curiosity quickly became inspiration. Seeing the dedication, pressure, and emotion behind the sport lit a spark that couldn’t be ignored. At just 11 years old, Alex climbed into a kart for the first time, taking his initial steps into a journey that would soon demand discipline, sacrifice, and unwavering belief.

Today, Alex competes at the national level in Rotax Junior Max and Junior X30, facing strong competition and constantly pushing his limits. Each race weekend is approached with intention — not chasing results alone, but personal growth. His greatest motivation is simple yet profound: becoming better than he was yesterday. Grounded in faith, Alex believes that God is with him every step of the way, guiding his path through victories, challenges, and everything in between.

Alex’s dreams extend far beyond karting. His vision is clear — to one day become a Porsche factory driver and stand on the world stage by winning the 24 Hours of Nürburgring, one of the most demanding and respected endurance races in motorsport. He draws inspiration from the calm precision of Kévin Estre, while his all-time hero, Ayrton Senna, represents the spirit, passion, and faith that continue to influence his approach to racing and life.

Focused, disciplined, and emotionally grounded, Alex is a driver who understands that progress is earned lap by lap. He races with intention, humility, and a deep respect for the craft — knowing that greatness isn’t built overnight, but through consistency, belief, and resilience.
