All About Mary Badgley and my Experience in Motorsports

Hello, my name is Mary Badgley. I have just started writing articles about all types of motor sports. I am a college student for High Performance Technology and Automotive. I am learning how to work on racecars and regular vehicles. I have been part of the racing world since I was born in 2007. I started racing karts when I was seven years old. I stopped back in 2024 to go to college.

I raced karts on sprint tracks for my first five years of racing and got four wins. My best position in points was 3rd place in sprint racing. I started road racing in my fifth year of racing. I got three championships and around 40 wins. My last kart race was done at Nelson Ledges Road Course and I won both days. I prefer road courses over any other type of track. I got to race a sprint track at New Castle Motorsports Park back in 2022 after being four years out of sprint racing and didn’t do well but I had fun up until I had mechanical issues.

Now I am helping my sister Kendra when I can. I make her resume and help her get sponsors. I show up to as many races of hers as possible. When I am at her races, I help with kart setup and keeping her confident especially when she is having a rough day. I was at two of her races last year and I will be going to one of her races this year. I manage our BADGLEY RACING Facebook group, Badgley Racing Instagram and the Badgley Racing YouTube channel. Even when I’m not at her races, I support her from my college dorm over facetime or live feed.

I raced a Mini Cup once at Grundy County Speedway in 2024 before I went to college. I didn’t have much luck when I raced it because of mechanical issues. I only raced it once, but when I was able to be on track with no issues, I gained positions and improved. I would like to race it again but my life at college currently is full. That was my only time racing anything other than a kart and being on an oval.

At college, I am working on racecars and doing a few basic automotive classes to get my Associate degree. I am adding on marketing to get my Bachelor’s degree. I want marketing to be my backup in case working on racecars doesn’t work. My overall goal is to work on the engines on an IMSA team and write articles for motorsports on the side. I like writing articles as a side gig but if I get the opportunity to write them as a job I would take it. I have helped my dad with engine work since I was seven to eight years old. I get to learn more about engines at the college I am at (University of Northwestern Ohio).
